Summary
About the Position: This position is located at Martin Army Community Hospital; within the directorate of medicine, inhalation/ respiratory inpatient therapy department of medicine at Fort Benning, GA.
Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service.
This is a Direct Hire Solicitation
Duties
Calibrate pulmonary function and other respiratory diagnostic equipment in accordance with American Thoracic Society (ATS) standards.
Assess respiratory functions of patients within medical clinic.
Develop and monitor treatment plans for patients with a variety of respiratory issues.
Adhere to safety precautions when checking oxygen pressure apparatus, safety blow-off valves and water traps.
Make recommendations for change inpatient treatment.

All applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to submit a urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random drug testing, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
This position is subject to a background investigation to determine your suitability for Federal employment. A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
A pre-placement medical examination is required.
This position may require a seasonal Influenza vaccination that is subject to annual seasonal Influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
This position requires that you obtain and maintain a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
This position requires that you obtain and maintain a Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
This position requires that you obtain and maintain an Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
This position requires that you obtain and maintain a Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
This position has specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis.
This position requires a rotating 12-hour shifts during a 24-hour day providing coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations
This position requires the incumbent to work on call during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.
This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer.
Lifting up to 30 pounds may be required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the Education and/or Experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing respiratory therapy assistance in all areas of health center; setting up and operating respiratory treatment equipment; and utilizing healthcare automated systems to document results and receive patient orders. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
OR
Education: One and a half years of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as respiratory therapy.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total semester hours minus 18) by 9. Add the two percentages.
Education
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university. Additional information
Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
One year trial/probationary period may be required.
Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
