Job Description

Summary This position is located within the Fort Gordon Business Operations Division. Note: If claiming Current/Former NAF or APF Employee preference, you are required to submit a copy of your personnel action (DA Form 3434 or SF-50) with your supporting documents to be eligible for this preference. Duties Performs a full range of simple cooking by preparing and cooking items that require little or no processing, such as pancakes, sausage, eggs, hamburgers, fresh or canned vegetables, cold sandwich filling and may set up and replenishes salad bar. Prepares food by peeling, chopping, grinding, paring, cutting, slicing, dicing, pureeing, dredging, flouring, or breading. Operates a variety of kitchen equipment using gas, electricity, steam or microwave sources. Uses and cleans a variety of cooking utensils to measure, weigh, and process food items. Follows established sanitation procedures when handling food, ensuring foods are stored at the correct temperatures to prevent bacteria growth. Requirements Conditions of employment Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required. Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position. Position, duty hours, location and/or activity are subject to change based on mission requirements. Satisfactory completion of pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, 2-15, para.2. Must be available nights, weekends and holidays. Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a medical examination. Incumbent is required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally-controlled facilities. A qualified candidate must possess the following: Work experience in preparing foods and cooking simple foods and short orders in a cafeteria, restaurant, or mess. Demonstration of the following work behavior is desirable: 1. Neatness and good grooming. 2. Dependability. 3. Ability to work under pressure. Allowances and Differentials This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system. FWS employees earn overtime pay for working more than 8 hours in a day or more than 40 hours in a week -- whichever gives the employee more benefit. Regular full-time, regular part-time, and regularly scheduled flexible employees may receive Sunday premium pay for working on Sundays. Employees may also be eligible to receive extra pay if the majority of their scheduled hours falls after 3:00 PM.
