Summary This position will be assigned to the JBSA Randolph Golf Course. This is a regular part-time category position with guaranteed 20 hours per week, may work up to 40 hrs./week. Employees appointed to a regular category position are eligible for benefits. Frequently lifts, carry and set up parts and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted and over 40 pounds with assistance. Required to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb and work in uncomfortable positions. Duties The function of the organization where this position is located is in the official functional statements. The incumbent is responsible for the programming, operation and maintenance of the golf course irrigation system(s). Independently installs, modifies, repairs and maintains a variety of new and existing utility, supply and disposal systems and equipment associated with golf course irrigation systems. Plans and ensures the proper slant, slope, fall or level of installation to provide for proper flow, drainage and sanitary operating conditions and to prevent backflow, vacuum or air lock conditions. Maintains records and documents actions. Plans and accomplishes work from initial layout to final assembly which involves interpreting and applying building plans, specifications, blueprints, sketches and other plumbing guides/codes and using shop mathematics. Troubleshoots/tests various plumbing systems and equipment including backflow prevention devices such as reduced pressure principle devices, double check devices, atmospheric vacuum breakers and other cross connection devices. Uses and maintains tools such as tapes, rules, plumb bobs, hand and power pipe threaders, cutters, pipe wrenches, angle drills, hacksaws and power saws, power sewer cleaning equipment, various gas detectors and meters and lead pots. This position has physical requirements which require the incumbent to complete a pre-employment physical. This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing drug use. Must have a valid driver's license. This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. The incumbent must be able to work an assigned shift to meet work requirements. This position requires the incumbent to be a U.S. Citizen or a Legal U.S. Resident for a minimum of 3 years and must reside in/around the area. Qualifications Who May Apply: Open to everyone. Qualifying Experience: Must have experience which demonstrates knowledge of basic electricity and hydraulics related to irrigation systems, including automatic valves and controllers, and working knowledge of various types of pumps and pumping systems. Requires understanding of agronomy, turfgrass science and the rules of golf; knowledge of tools, methods and materials used in grounds and landscape area maintenance work; ability to operate light motorized equipment; and ability to follow oral and written directions. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's): You qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of various supply, disposal and utility systems associated with golf course irrigation systems. 2. Skill in the use of plumbing tools and equipment such as rules, levels, plumb bobs, dividers, gauges and meters, drain cleaning devices, hydrostatic pumps and torches to make installations and repairs. 3. Skill in independently troubleshooting and repairing hard to detect leaks and operating problems which require difficult or extensive repair. 4. Ability to plan and lay out the installation and modification of various systems and equipment, for example, the routing, openings, slant and level of gas and water lines and the location and arrangement of water closets, sinks and emergency equipment. **NOTE: Those qualified applicants who meet both the minimum qualification requirement(s) and highly preferred criteria(s) will be considered best qualified for this position and will be referred to the selecting official(s) first for consideration.All other applicants will be referred as needed and requested by the selecting official(s). **Reminder to Applicants: Your experience has to be clearly identified in your resume in order to receive consideration.
