Summary About the position: This position will be assigned to the Outdoor Pool at the Aquatics Center on Edwards AFB, CA Learn more about this agency Requirements Conditions of Employment This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results. Requires a nationally recognized certification in lifesaving and water rescue methods, basic first aid training and CPR (child and adult) training. Certification must be obtained within 30 days of hire and will be paid for by Outdoor Recreation. This position requires the incumbent be of legal age to be employed at a Non-Appropriated Funds position, which is 16 years. This position requires CPR Certification for both children and adults. Must be able to pass a basic swim test administered by lifeguard instruction of Edwards AFB staff or other qualified ODR staff member. May be required to work evenings, weekends, holidays and family down days. Qualifications Who May Apply: Open to everyone. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Must have experience that provides a practical knowledge of swimming activities, rules, and procedures; skill in the use and maintenance of various pool and safety equipment is highly desirable. Must be able to maintain good standings with American Red Cross (or other nationally recognized) Certification and stay current with no break in certificates. Must be at least 16 years of age. Must be able to pass basic swim test administered by lifeguard instruction of Edwards AFB staff or other qualified ODR staff member. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position DOES NOT allow for education substitution. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
