Summary This position is located in the Environmental, Safety, Health and Energy (ESHE) Division, United States Mint in Denver, CO. As an Environmental Protection Specialist, you will ensure the Denver Mint complies with current laws, regulations and ordinances regarding chemical products that are considered hazardous and serve as advisor to management on environmental and hazardous chemical product issues. A one-year probationary period may be required. Must successfully complete a background investigation. Public Trust - Background Investigation will be required. Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency. Have your salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer. Federal law requires verification of the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires in the U.S. Shift Work: This facility operates on a 24 hour per day, three-shift basis, 5 days a week. Work schedules may vary and assignment to a specific shift cannot be guaranteed. The successful applicant must be available to work on all three shifts on a rotational basis. May be required to wear safety clothing and/or equipment required by the position. The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Specialized experience for the GS-12 level is one year of experience at the GS-11 level or equivalent that has equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience includes: - Preparing written reports giving recommendations for solving environmental issues or problems; AND - Monitoring compliance or training on the preparation of environmental compliance reviews; AND - Preparing environmental assessments or impact statements. Education This job does not have an education qualification requirement. This position requires that the successful candidate undergo personnel vetting, which includes a background investigation and enrollment upon onboarding into "Continuous Vetting." Enrollment in Continuous Vetting will result in automated record checks being conducted throughout one's employment with Treasury. The successful candidate will also be enrolled into FBI's Rap Back service, which will allow Treasury to receive notification from the FBI of criminal matters (e.g., arrests, charges, convictions) involving enrolled individuals in near real-time.
