Job Description
Summary
This position is located at Fort Leavenworth United States Disciplinary Barracks (USDB) - Sales Store.
The USDB mission is to create and maintain "FIRST CHOICE" vocational programs for military offenders. The USDB Sales Store is the only sales outlet for products produced in these programs.
Incentives and Bonuses
Incentives will not be paid.
Duties
Responsible for the overall operation of a department within the sales store. Operates a cash register, records sales and gives change. Opens and closes registers according to established procedures.
Prices merchandise and make it available to customers in store. Assists customers in making selections or recommends substitute merchandise.
Assists senior buyer in merchandise selection and ordering process to include working with vendors, ordering and receiving merchandise, processing documents associated with ordering and receiving.
Monitors stock levels, participates in formal inventories. Leads the work of other employees within the department, gives guidance and instructions on specific task or daily functions of stocking, merchandise display and selling activities.
Establishes work assignments to meet peak loads and emergencies. Enforces operating procedures and established standards. Performs other duties as assigned.

Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
A one-year probationary period may be required.
Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
Incumbent may also be required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally controlled facilities.
Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a Tier 1 background investigation.
Appointment subject to favorable suitability determination, IAW DODI 1325.7 para 6.14.3.
Work in accordance with Prison Rape Elimination Act.
Work closely among correctional facility inmates.
Possess and maintain the emotional stability to work among correctional facility inmates.
Must be willing to accept a βFlexibleβ appointment.
Must be willing to work a schedule that could include approximately four Saturdays a year.
Qualifications

A qualified candidate must possess the following:
Experience in retail sales, merchandising, cash register operations and inventory controls.
Highly Preferred Criteria:
Prior work experience in a correctional environment.

Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
Allowances and Differentials
This job is part of a pay-banded system. Sunday premium pay for regularly scheduled employees and night differential pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander.
Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
