Summary

Duties
Performs a wide range of warehousing activities, including receiving, storing, and shipping a variety of bin and bulk supplies, materials, equipment and commodities in support of the operating location.
Assembles items into groups based on information shown on the receiving vouchers and segregates materials according to such factors as condition, type of transaction, or property class and routes along appropriate processing lines.
Holds material for inspection according to established procedures. Routes items not requiring inspection to proper storage location or the designated organization.
Loads and drives motor truck and/or forklift to move, stack, unstack, load, and unload a variety of materials and equipment.
Frequently lifts and carries material weighing up to 40 pounds, and at times may handle items weighing over 70 pounds, using lifting equipment or the assistance of other workers.

This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
Qualifications
Specialized experience is defined as: Manages warehousing operations by receiving, storing, and/or shipping various supplies and materials to support operational needs. OR accurately sorts and routes items, adhering to specifications and procedures, while operating forklifts or other equipment to ensure efficient material flow.
Qualifications: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the Office of Personnel Management Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties at the level for which you are applying.
Placement in this position may require a pre-employment physical examination. This is required due to the physical requirements of this position. Works on hard surfaces and in work areas that require standing, stooping, bending and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts and carries weights up to 40 lbs. May handle heavier items with freight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers.
Examples of Qualifying Experience include: Performing warehousing activities which may include keeping logs and records in an orderly and accurate manner and the operation of mechanized equipment such as utility vehicles, mobile stock selectors and forklifts to receive and transmit storage, inventory and requisition data under the direct supervision of a Supervisory Materials Handler.

Pay for first time hires to the Federal Government will typically be set at step 1 salary range for their respective grade level.
