Duties Manage a comprehensive program in the development, evaluation, and maintenance of security automated systems, policies, devices, procedures and methods used for safeguarding personnel, information, property, operations and materials. Conducts overall planning and implementation of security policies and procedures for the Central Site. Provides guidance to functional managers on annual risk assessments as they pertain to security matters, reviewing investigative reports, developing personnel security program guidelines, submitting reports. Conducts inspections of security operations at the DFAS Central Site and assists in security training and instruction program, which have been established within DFAS or DoD. Conducts management training in the security aspects of personnel risk assessment. Implement policy and procedures regarding Antiterrorism and Force Protection program (AT/FP) requirements. Requirements Conditions of employment Suitable for Federal Employment. Registered for Selective Service (males born after 12-31-1959). This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Qualifications One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized experience is defined as: demonstrating a broad range of security concepts, principles, and practices in order to assess and resolve difficult security problems for an organization; utilizing technical expertise related to information or physical security to effectively implement, integrate, and administer applicable security programs in coordination with other specialized security programs. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Education Substitution of Education for Experience: Three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed higher-level graduate level education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. Additional information Moving expense will not be paid. This position is covered by a bargaining unit. This position is exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act. The Security Designation will vary and dependent upon position and may require a secret clearance or higher.
