Summary This position is located at the Fort Leavenworth Aquatics Program. Incentives and Bonuses Incentives will not be paid. Duties Acts as water safety instructor. Manages all swimming lessons and instructs when scheduled, at the assigned aquatics facility. Develops swim program according to students' ability and promotes students to higher level of swimming according to their skills. Instructs all levels of swimming and appropriate strokes, to include; front crawl, back crawl, elementary backstroke, breaststroke, sidestroke and butterfly. Teach students from age groups of infant through adults. Introduces and instructs safety and survival skills to students, when appropriate to level of instruction. Instructors work with lifeguards to ensure that swim lessons are safe at all times. Requirements Conditions of employment Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required. Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position. A one-year probationary period may be required. Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check. Appointment subject to favorable suitability determination. Satisfactory completion of pre-employment background checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2, and a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation is required. Must successfully complete a pre-employment physical and the ability to lift and carry 40lbs. Must be willing to accept a β€œFlexible” appointment. Must be able to work Saturdays, depending on the organizations needs. Qualifications Resumes must be two pages (or less). A qualified candidate must possess the following: Work experience related to the duties described above: manage swim lessons; develop swim program; introduce and instruct safety and survival skills. AND possession of the following certificates: Water Safety Instructor Certification Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) First Aid Certification (Certificates issue by American Red Cross, Ellis @ Associates, Star Guard or other nationally recognized agencies are acceptable) In addition to the above qualifications, candidates who possess the following qualifications will be considered "Highly Preferred" or "Best Qualified": Possess Lifeguard certification OR Possess Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Trainer Certification Experience must be reflected on your resume! Allowances and Differentials This job is part of a pay-banded system. Sunday premium pay for regularly scheduled employees and night differential pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
