You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination. You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal. You may be assigned to work at a job site or location other than a permanently assigned location. You may be required to perform shift work, work overtime, and/or be "called back" including working on evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. Occasional travel my be required, on average 1-2 days per month. This position may be designated Mission Essential. If so, you will be required to ensure organization/facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission by a local or command decision. Position is NOT eligible for telework. You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift. Must obtain and maintain a Commercial Driver's License within 12 months. Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is the ability to do the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Your resume must show that you have the ability to perform common tasks related to this position including: 1) Repairing high voltage power generating and distributing equipment (e.g. generators, transformers, switches, circuit breakers, recording instruments, and control systems); 2) Reading circuit drawings and diagrams to identify electrical problems; 3) Using high voltage test tools (e.g. oscillators, primary and secondary injection tester,, Power Factor and Relay calibration equipment, meggers, phase sticks, and fault finding equipment); 4) Installing transformers, capacitors, insulators, switches, circuit breakers and fuses for main distribution lines over 600V; 5) Using safety equipment such as hot sticks, rubber blankets, and insulated gloves when working on high voltage systems.
