About the Position: This is a Sewing Machine Operator, WG-3111-04 position located in the Logistics Readiness Center at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.

- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent is subject to a medical clearance examination prior to employment. This position may require an annual physical or medical surveillance examination.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
Qualifications
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Sewing Machine Operator~ without more than normal supervision. You must have the ability to operate a sewing machine to make alterations and attach patches to garments. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

- Physical Effort: Performs work on hard surfaces and in work areas requiring standing, stooping, bending and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently required to lift and carry items weighing up to 30 pounds. Occasionally required to lift and carry heavier, bulkier items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Working Conditions: Usually works in shops or other enclosed areas that are adequately lighted, ventilated and heated. Work may be dirty, dusty and greasy. Frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises and noise from sewing machines. Is also subject to strains and injury from lifting and handling heavy stock.
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
