Summary This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Civilian Positions to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Ice Harbor Project is a multi-purpose hydropower project, with missions including operation and maintenance of the facility for flood control, hydro power generation with six main generating units, navigation locks, fish facility, recreation, and natural resource management. A pre-employment drug test is required. A pre-employment physical is required. This position requires the ability to lift heavy objects, 90 lbs, specific to the position. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers boat operator license within 12 months after initial appointment. Must be able to obtain and maintain or possess a valid state driver's license. Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: With minimal supervision, perform the majority of the following maintenance worker tasks under normal supervision: painting, carpentry, repairing irrigation systems, plumbing repairs, and welding. Full level skills in operating all associated tools and equipment related to the sub journeyman level skills. Experience operating and maintaining forklifts, backhoes, and tractor-trailers. I have performed daily operation checks of this equipment. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision Screen Out ABILITY TO INTERPRET INSTRUCTIONS, SPECIFICATIONS ETC. (INCLUDING BLUEPRINT READING) Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment KNOWLEDGE OF EQUIPMENT ASSEMBLY, INSTALLATION, REPAIR, ETC. Knowledge of Materials Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) USE OF MEASURING INSTRUMENTS (MECHANICAL, ELECTRICAL, ELECTRONIC, AS APPROPRIATE TO LINE OF WORK) Education This job does not have an education qualification requirement.
