Summary This position is located at the historic Hacienda, Fort Hunter Liggett, CA. Incentives and Bonuses Incentives will not be paid. This position will have a first cut off of December 11, 2025, and applicants that submit a complete application packet prior to that date and found eligible may be given first consideration. Duties Performs a full range of simple cooking by preparing and cooking items that require little or no processing. Prepares hot cereals, concentrated or dehydrated soups, sauces and gravies. Makes cold sandwich fillings. Sets up and replenishes salad bar. Prepares food, weighs, measures, and assembles ingredients for regular and modified menu items. Mixes ingredients according to written recipes. Covers, dates and stores leftovers according to established procedures. Operates a variety of kitchen equipment. Disassembles, cleans and re-assembles component parts and accessories. Follows safety procedures to avoid personal injury and damage to the equipment. Cleans, stores and maintains all equipment and work areas after each use. Cleans other work areas and equipment on an established cleaning schedule. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of employment Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required. Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position to include a physical. A one-year probationary period may be required. Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check. Satisfactory completion of 4-hour initial food sanitation and safety training is required within 30 days of employment and minimum of 4 hours refresher training annually. Must be 18 years of age by appointment date to meet state requirements. Work involves standing, walking, stooping, reaching and bending for prolonged periods of time. May be required to occasionally life objects weighing up to 40 pounds with assistance. Operation is 7 days a week, schedule will be based on the needs of the activity. Subject to an irregular tour of duty including early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays are required. Qualifications Resumes must be two pages (or less). Resumes should clearly demonstrate the applicant's relevant experience, skills, knowledge and abilities as they pertain to this position. A qualified candidate must possess the following: Work experience in preparing foods and cooking simple foods and short orders in a cafeteria, restaurant, or mess. Demonstration of the following work behavior is desirable: a. Neatness and good grooming. b. Dependability. c. Ability to work under pressure. Education This job does not have an education qualification requirement. PCS Costs Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest. Allowances and Differentials This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system. FWS employees earn overtime pay for working more than 8 hours in a day or more than 40 hours in a week -- whichever gives the employee more benefit. Regular full-time, regular part-time, and regularly scheduled flexible employees may receive Sunday premium pay for working on Sundays. Employees may also be eligible to receive extra pay if the majority of their scheduled hours falls after 3:00 PM. Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
