Medical Instrument Technician (Surgical)

Summary As a Medical Instrument Technician (Surgical), you will assist in operations, under the supervision of surgeons, registered nurses, or other surgical personnel. You will also help set up the operating room, prepare and transport patients for surgery, adjust lights and equipment, pass instruments and other supplies to surgeons and surgeon's assistants, hold retractors, and help count sponges, needles, supplies, and instruments. This position requires on-call or call back, and rotational shift Qualifications You qualify at the GS-09 level if you meet the following qualification requirements: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-08 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: prepare patients for surgery, including covering them with sterile surgical drapes; provide technical assistance to surgeons, surgical nurses, or anesthesiologists; complete sterilization and aseptic techniques of surgical equipment and conducting an inventory of surgical equipment and supplies.
