POSITION TITLE
Accounting Manager
LOCATION
Richmond, VA (Hybrid)
This position is available to Virginia residents as Richmond, Virginia in-office applicants with a hybrid work schedule.

YOUR ROLE
You will act as a business partner who delivers financial competencies to drive improvement across the business, with a focus on the timeliness and accuracy of financial results.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
- Lead execution of internal control measurement, monitoring and compliance including adherence to Sarbanes Oxley across Finance, IT and Operations departments; Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting; Present quarterly updates to the Senior Leadership Team
- Manage daily accounting and monthly close processes facilitating with our Corporate HQ
- Development, maintenance, and implementation of accounting policies and procedures; Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to strengthen internal controls
- Support internal and external audit activities and inquiries
- Oversee and manage the account reconciliation process
- Research technical accounting issues, collaborate across Genworth teams including HQ Controllership, Technical Accounting Group, Tax, and Investments to ensure accurate reporting and adequate process, procedures, and controls
- Continue to develop professional, leadership and technical knowledge through continuing education courses, on-the-job experience, project leadership, mentor program, professional publications, and active participation professional networks
MUST HAVE / WHAT YOU BRING
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting or related field
- At least 5 years of finance or accounting experience
- Thorough understanding of GAAP
- Experience with internal and external audits
- Strong organizational skills, accurate, detail oriented, time conscience
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills
- Previous leadership and people development experience
- Strong financial systems / ERP knowledge (preferably Oracle)
- Ability to multitask and prioritize to meet deadlines
- Strong commitment to quality and productivity
- Ability to drive improvement of people, process and tools across the Finance organization
NICE TO HAVE
- Master's degree in accounting
- CPA
- Big 4 accounting/auditing experience
- General insurance, financial services or mortgage insurance experience
- Sarbanes Oxley experience
