Summary
THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a Airfield Operations Specialist (Title 5) (Permanent), Position Description Number T7120000 and is part of the VA MTC, National Guard.

Qualifications
WHO CAN APPLY:
GROUP A - All on Board Federal National Guard Employees within Virginia National Guard.
GROUP B - All current Federal Employees (from any agency), all federal re-employable eligible, and/or current Army M-Day and Air DSG within VANG.
GROUP C - All U.S. Citizens.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Applicant you have experience coordinating and maintaining liaison with military, federal, and local agencies concerning airspace utilization, flying operations, aircraft emergencies, search and rescue operations, and natural disasters. Provides direct support to unit and other military and civilian aircrews, during scheduled and unscheduled flying and ground activities. Provides aircrews with information and assistance, necessary for planning and conducting safe flight operations.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicant must have at least 12 months of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-08, or equivalent pay band in other pay systems in the Federal government. This experience may also have been obtained in the private sector but must demonstrate that it is comparable to the GS grade indicated. This experience must include activities such as:
- Experience processing flight plans, conducting necessary research and/or queries in the coordination of scheduled flights.
- Experience assisting the Airfield Operations Officer in the research and evaluation of airfield data, specific to airfield facilities, construction plans for the airfield, and changes/modifications- to airfield construction projects and/or priority adjustments.
- Experience in maintaining an adequate supply of flight plans, manifests, standard instrument departure forms, flight planning cards.
- Experience performing daily airfield inspections/checks for conditions, physical security, and force protection to ensure a safe airfield environment.
