Summary

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This National Guard position is for a Lead Airfield Operations Specialist (Title 5) (Permanent), Position Description Number T7130000 and is part of the VA MTC, National Guard.

Qualifications

WHO CAN APPLY:
GROUP A - All On Board Federal National Guard Employees within VANG.
GROUP B - All current Federal Employees (from any agency), all federal re-employable eligible, and/or current Army M-Day and Air DSG within VANG.
GROUP C - All U.S. Citizens.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Applicant must have experience coordinating and maintaining liaison with military, federal, and local agencies concerning airspace utilization, flying operations, aircraft emergencies, search and rescue operations, and natural disasters.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicant must have at least 18 months of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-09 level, or equivalent pay band in other pay systems in the Federal government? This experience may also have been obtained in the private sector but must demonstrate that it is comparable to the GS grade indicated. This experience must include activities such as:
  1. Experience processing flight plans, conducting necessary research and/or queries in the coordination of scheduled flights.
  2. Experience assisting in the research and evaluation of airfield data, specific to airfield facilities, construction plans for the airfield, and changes/modifications to airfield construction projects and/or priority adjustments.
  3. Experience participating in the scheduling of airfield activities with tenant and transient unit commands, requiring use of the airfield.
  4. Experience performing daily airfield inspections/checks for conditions, physical security, and force protection to ensure a safe airfield environment.
