Application Engineer - ContiTech

products and is a specialist in plastics technology. ContiTech develops and produces functional parts,
components, and systems for machine and plant engineering, mining, the automotive industry, and other important industries.
Our Auburn Hills, MI location is seeking an Application Engineer to join our team to support our Belt segment. You will strengthen and expand ContiTech position in the North American belt supplier market by acquisition of new development and mass production programs from Original Equipment and Tier 2 customers. Also support the initiative to improve ContiTech's quality ratings by the customer.

Basic Responsibilities • Act as general liaison between North American customers and R&D, sales, quality management and production in Germany and Mexico through effective email and phone correspondence as well as personal visits.• Correspond with customer Engineering departments on a daily basis to obtain and share updates on the latest developments as well as upcoming programs.• Continuous improve of service quality and customer relations.• Improve communication between German and Mexican departments, the US office, and the customers.• Provide immediate information on new customer activities or issues. Supply regular updates on the general market situation and developments as well as ContiTech's warranty situation.• Stay up to date with all relevant customer computer applications, such as Covisint, GM Supply power, and inform ContiTech departments about necessary actions.• Become proficient in Static and Dynamic calculation tools and support customers with • Layout optimization reports• Organize and ensure timely provision of all samples. Track all sample builds for later reference.• Provide and monitor project development timelines with special focus on items with long lead times such as tooling. Kick off tooling and start of production.• Ensure a professional APQP process through monitoring of program timing and provision of materials• Ensure packaging approvals are in place before SOP• Ensure smooth process-sign off's, production ramp-up's and production transfers between plants.• Coordinate all customer process-sign off's/PPAP's, mass production lunches, and production transfers between ContiTech's responsible departments in Germany and Mexico and the customer.• Provide customer support on returned field parts by means of dealer inquiries, organization of lab tests here required, and timely responses in the respective online systems (PRAS, EWT, WIS, etc.)• Support Sales during RFQ process with calculation and technical information

Job Requirements

Basic Qualifications • Bachelor's in mechanical engineering or related field• 1 years + experience in the supplier industry to North American Automotive Original Equipment customers• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications required. Experience with MS O365 / Lotus Notes• Experience in direct customer contact.• Ability to work high effectively with a minimum of supervision• Good social networking skills.• Good presentation skills• Excellent analytical skills• Willingness to travel

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with FCA/General Motors/Ford's online applications
