We foster an inclusive culture and are looking for diverse, talented people to join Alcon. As an Automation Engineer II supporting the U.S. MTO Engineering Manufacturing Team in Fort Worth, TX, a typical day will include:

• Designs manufacturing processes, procedures, and production layouts for equipment installation.
• Designs arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout.
• Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.
• Develops user and design requirements, selects equipment vendors, or completes the technology design and equipment build.
• Manages the installation of automation systems while ensuring safety, and validating the automated system for adherence to requirements, CGMPs, and intended system operation.
• Supports Automation Technicians in situations where troubleshooting or technology may fall outside of their area of expertise.
• Interacts with production supervisors/managers to identify areas to improve equipment throughput, flexibility, quality, safety, and/or reliability.
• Implements automation solutions resulting from NCI investigations or CAPA assignments.
• Plans and executes engineering project work with minimal supervision.
• Troubleshoots equipment/process control systems and change control activities.
• Programs PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, and inspection systems.
• Manages capital projects.
• Designs and implements modifications to the existing manufacturing equipment that will improve the operational efficiencies.
• Active participation in Continuous Improvement Program
• Rotating 24/7 on call support (typically 1 week or less / month)

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:

• Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +13 yrs; Assoc.+9 yrs; M.S.+2 yrs; PhD+0 yrs)
• The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English.
• Work hours: 40
• Travel Requirements: 10-15% domestic or Intl.
