Role Overview

Sodexo is seeking a Building Automation System (BAS) Technician to provide support for our Life Science Client located in Rahway, New Jersey. This expanded role is crucial for maintaining the operational integrity and efficiency of the BAS, supporting HVAC systems, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards while implementing improvements and upgrades to technology.

What You'll Do

• BAS Monitoring and Maintenance:
  
  
  • Monitor and maintain the site's Building Automation Systems (BAS) to ensure minimal downtime and efficient operation, focusing on preventing unscheduled interruptions.
  • Support the BAS control room's 24/7 operation, ensuring continuous system availability.
• Troubleshooting and Diagnostics:
  
  
  • Perform troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair work on server and workstation hardware.
  • Conduct backup and restore procedures for system backup and disaster recovery to prevent data loss or system failure.
• HVAC Support:
  
  
  • Assist HVAC mechanical and operations staff by troubleshooting, interpreting sequence codes, and addressing system-related issues.
  • Support HVAC mechanics in configuring and troubleshooting controllers, instrumentation, networks, and I/O modules.
• Upgrades and Technology Evaluation:
  
  
  • Provide recommendations for hardware and software replacements and upgrades to enhance system functionality and reliability.
  • Evaluate new technologies for potential integration into existing systems, ensuring future readiness and optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with BAS vendors to evaluate and implement software upgrades and improvements as needed.
• Documentation and Compliance:
  
  
  • Review automation documents, preventive maintenance schedules, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure compliance with site standards, Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), and safety protocols.
  • Work with project managers and engineers to review BAS-related projects for compliance with site and corporate standards, focusing on maintainability and long-term system health.
• Project Support:
  
  
  • Review and ensure proper integration of BAS in all projects, assessing scope, timelines, and system requirements.
  • Ensure that all changes comply with site regulations, GMP guidelines, and future system sustainability.

What You Bring

• 5 to 7 years of experience in:
  • Critical computer systems, engineering, and/or maintenance.
  • Experience in environments where high system uptime and operational reliability are essential (e.g., life sciences, manufacturing).

• Strong Computer Skills, including proficiency with:
  
  
  • Experience in networking hardware and software, ensuring smooth communication between systems.
  • Expertise in application support, troubleshooting software issues, and ensuring compatibility with automation systems.

• Strong communication skills to effectively interact with a range of stakeholders:
  • Engineers and mechanics to resolve technical issues and optimize system performance.
  • Operations teams to maintain and improve system functionality and minimize downtime.
  • Customers to provide clear, concise updates and resolve any concerns related to BAS systems or HVAC operations.

Qualifications & Requirements

Minimum Education Requirement - Associate's Degree or equivalent experience

Minimum Functional Experience - 3 years of engineering experience, with a focus in reliability or project engineering; similar experience working with/on Facilities or Utilities Maintenance teams
