Business Data Analyst

Job Description: Business Data Analyst Position Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Business Data Analyst to join our team. This role is critical in ensuring that data across our operational systems is aligned, normalized, and structured for accurate reporting and decision-making. The ideal candidate will not only analyze data but also deeply understand how our systems function today and how individual data fields are being used across those systems. By ensuring consistency at the source level, the Business Data Analyst will enable more reliable reporting, key performance indicators (KPIs), and business insights. Key Responsibilities • Develop a strong understanding of existing operational systems, including their data structures, fields, and workflows. • Map and correlate how data fields are defined and used across multiple source systems. • Ensure consistency, normalization, and alignment of data fields before extraction into reporting environments. • Collaborate with IT, Operations, and other business units to maintain accurate data definitions and documentation. • Identify gaps, overlaps, or inconsistencies in data usage and recommend improvements. • Extract and prepare clean data from native reporting tools. • Provide clear, data-backed insights and recommendations to stakeholders. • Maintain high standards of data governance, accuracy, across transactional systems • Maintains a excellent understanding of existing knowledge base and information repositories • Ensures field changes are consistent and managed for proper alignment to data and reporting needs. Qualifications Required: • Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, Information Systems, Data Science or related field. • 2+ years of experience in a Data Analyst, Business Analyst, or related role. • Strong understanding of data fields, and system integrations. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. • Excellent communication skills, able to translate technical findings into clear business insights. • Excellent Time Management skills ability to work independently. • Proficiency in MS-Office/M365 Tools Preferred: • Exposure to data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, Looker, etc.). • Experience working with enterprise systems (ERP, CRM, Transportation Management, or similar). • Familiarity with data normalization, master data management, and data governance practices. • Exposure to AI tools such as MS-Co/Pilot or ChatGPT Key Competencies • Strong understanding of how business systems capture and utilize data. • Ability to align and normalize data across disparate sources. • Data governance and quality assurance mindset. • Effective collaboration with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. • Detail-oriented with a focus on building reliable, repeatable processes.
