Business Intelligence Analyst

What you’ll do:

Provide information and insight accurately and on a timely basis to decision makers at Pinnacol; build ad hoc reports and analyses as needed; build enterprise reports and dashboards as needed.  

What you can expect:

• Build dashboard and enterprise reports by gathering requirements; fulfil customer design needs executing timely and accurately
• Create analyses and ad hoc reports as requested by customer advising customers on business and technical subjects
• Conduct analyses, design and create information products using various development tools
• Investigate problems with data query programs and timely assist customers in correcting problems
• Learn new software tools and other skills independently as directed by manager to ensure best products are created for customer
• Establish and maintain strong relations with customers to ensure understanding of customer’s needs

What you need to be successful:

• General knowledge of workers compensation strongly preferred. 
• Underwriting knowledge is strongly preferred and may be substituted for prior experience with business intelligence reporting
• Experience in business intelligence report, data analysis and apply it with your business acumen to create easy to understand and actionable recommendations
• Knowledge and ability to analyze and synthesize complex data into easy to understand, actionable recommendations
• Intermediate level of experience with SQL, being able to read, write/create, optimize and troubleshoot SQL queries against relational database schemas
• Experience with Business Intelligence Report Tools such as Microstrategy, Looker, Brio, Tableau, Power BI, QuickSight or similar.
• Advanced knowledge with Excel with the ability to use it for data analysis leveraging skills such as power query, pivot tables, data validation, etc.   
• Detail oriented with excellent problem solving skills
• Willingness to continuously learn, and share knowledge
• Ability to craft a story with data and present the story to a wide variety of audiences, including technical and non-technical audiences.

The compensation amount for this role is targeted at $73,400-$78,000. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including your experience and expertise and may vary from the amounts listed above.
