Chef de Partie – Modern Curated Tasting Sushi Menu Sushi Bar Hermosais an exclusive, intimate17-course omakase conceptthat’s redefining the sushi experience. Our modern approach features a progressive nigiri menu that playfully riffs on tradition nigiri andserved directly by our chefsto just 12 guests seated around our elegant sushi counter. We are hiring personable, engaging and technically proficient Chefs to join our team in Hermosa Beach. Sushi Bar is an intimate Omakase experience where the Chefs serve and interact directly with 12 guests sitting around their Sushi counter. This non-traditional, progressive, sushi experience features 17 composed courses in a tasting menu format. Many of the Sushi specific culinary skills can be taught to candidates with a great foundation. High-end Sushi experience or experience in a fine dining kitchen is required. This is a culinary position but not a "Back of House" position. All Chef's work to host guests every night at their Sushi counter. Ability and willingness to engage professionally and positively with guests each night is at the top of the position’s requirements. What You'll Do - Execute nightly omakase service, preparing and presenting each course with precision and personality - Develop seasonal menus and innovative flavor combinations using the best available ingredients - Engage with guests directly, sharing the inspiration and sourcing behind each dish - Collaborate with culinary leadership to push creative boundaries while honoring Japanese technique - Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, organization, and professionalism Ideal Candidate ✔ 3+ years’ experience in sushi and/or fine dining kitchens ✔ Exceptional knife skills and deep respect for fish and rice handling ✔ Creative mindset with a refined palate and strong attention to detail ✔ Poised, articulate, and genuinely hospitable in guest-facing environments ✔ Passion for fermentation, aging techniques, and evolving flavor profiles is a plus ✔ Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays We Offer - Competitive compensation - Health, dental, and vision insurance - Creative input and menu development opportunities - A chef-focused, collaborative work culture - Employee dining perks and access to top-tier ingredients Ready to be part of one of South Bay’s most exciting culinary destinations?
