Job Description

Overview A professional chef with an outgoing personality, passionate about food and health, and loves sharing and inspiring others to learn how to feel confident in the kitchen by transforming food into delicious and wholesome nutrition. The Chef Instructor will teach hands-on cooking classes to adults in a group setting in the Classroom at Lazy Acres. Skills: • Passion for food and inspiring others. • Knowledge of dietary theories. • Nutrition and health coaching background preferred. • Creativity for recipes and menu planning, plating, and presentation. • Food safety awareness (valid Food Handler’s card). • Teaching students step by step throughout the recipes. • Adapt the instruction to the possible different skill levels during a class. • Public speaking, excellent communication, and motivation. • Outgoing and joyful personality. Responsibilities • Design recipes and menus based on the theme of the month and class topic provided by the Marketing Department. The menus must be aligned with our mission of health and wellness and trying to use Lazy Acres ingredients and supplies as much as possible. • Write a detailed plan of the class with step-by-step of activities and timeline. • Write a list of ingredients and supplies for class preparation. Identify if everything is available at Lazy Acres and have a plan for outside purchases, in communication with the Classroom Coordinator. • Write a list of ingredients and recipes to be delivered to students for the class and to take home. • Set up the classroom with ingredients, utensils, and all requirements with the help of the Classroom Coordinator. • Teach the class under high-quality standards and create a high level of engagement and involvement from the students. Detailed instructions (step by step) is needed when teaching a recipe, from preparing the ingredients, knife skills, to the actual cooking technique, adjustment of seasoning, and plating. • Resolve questions that students might have related to the class or alternative options to the menu provided. • Create excitement about the upcoming classes for students to sign up for new classes or share with their people. • Clean up after the class and leave the classroom as it was found prior to class with the help of the Classroom Coordinator. • Submit receipts, invoices and paperwork required in a timely and organized manner. Experience • 3+ years’ experience as a Chef Instructor. • 3+ year’s experience teaching children (for Kids Chef Instructors). • 5+ years’ experience as an independent Chef or cook/chef in the restaurant or food service industries. Job Type: Contract Pay: $200.00 - $250.00 per day Work Location: In person
