The Cloud Data Engineer will design build and optimize data pipelines and platforms on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The role focuses on developing scalable ETL/ELT processes ensuring data quality and enabling analytics and business intelligence solutions that drive informed decision-making. The engineer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including project management product management and business stakeholders.
In this role you'll work in one of our IBM Consulting Client Innovation Centers (Delivery Centers) where we deliver deep technical and industry expertise to a wide range of public and private sector clients around the world. Our delivery centers offer our clients locally based skills and technical expertise to drive innovation and adoption of new technology.
- Design develop and maintain ETL/ELT data pipelines and workflows using SQL Python and GCP tools.
- Build and optimize data models in Google BigQuery to support analytics and reporting needs.
- Manage and automate data integration and deployment processes using Jenkins and other CI/CD tools.
- Ensure data accuracy consistency and security across systems and environments.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements validate data outputs and ensure deliverables meet business objectives.
- Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues and performance bottlenecks.
- Contribute to best practices documentation and process improvements for data engineering workflows.
- Strong SQL – advanced query design optimization and data manipulation.
- ETL/BI Development – experience in designing and maintaining data pipelines and dashboards.
- Jenkins – ideally 2+ years of experience in automating data engineering workflows.
- Cloud Technologies – hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Google BigQuery Google Cloud Storage (GCS) or equivalent cloud data services (e.g.: AWS Redshift and S3 Azure Synapse Analytics and Blob Storage).
- Python – proficiency in scripting data wrangling and automation tasks.
- Excellent communication skills – Advanced spoken English required ability to work directly with project and product management teams and business stakeholders to gather requirements and manage validation/testing.
