Your new role

Due to our significant growth, we are expanding our investment capabilities in New York, focusing on Infrastructure, Property, Private Debt and Private Equity. Within the Fund, Technology Services is accountable for managing and maintaining the technology infrastructure and activities to achieve the Fund's ambition, which is to help members achieve their best financial position in retirement.

Reporting to the Cloud Operations Manager, the Cloud Operations Engineer (DBA) is a hands-on technical operations role, focusing on the operational management and support of the Fund's Microsoft Azure environment (specifically focused on database services including Azure SQL Managed Instances, Azure SQL DBs, ADLS and SQL Server on Azure VMs as well as Azure Data Warehouse and Azure Storage services).

This role includes operational management and continuous improvement, as well as ensuring alignment to the Funds processes, standards, and best practices. You will be working collaboratively with other Technology Services colleagues, including architects, systems engineers, and delivery teams.

• Cloud Operations (Database and Storage)
  • Provide 24x7 operational support for cloud services (focusing on database and storage services), including incident resolution and problem management (after hours support via rostered on-call).
  • Assist with platform support including management and administration of database and storage systems.
  • Support operational management of the Fund's database and storage platforms, including monitoring and alerting, and lifecycle management.
• Incident and Service Request Management
  • Act as an escalation point for level 1 teams and peers where they are unable to resolve an issue, including support outside of normal business hours for major incidents.
  • Detect and log possible Problems, driving proactive resolution of issues.
  • Monitor the status and progress toward resolution of assigned Incidents and Service Requests, liaising between customers, other areas of Technology Services and external vendors.
• Vendor Governance
  • Where relevant, ensure vendors align to AustralianSuper operational processes, policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Stakeholder Management
  • Nurture and maintain internal relationships across all levels of the Fund.
• Governance and Compliance
  • Operate and make decisions according to the Fund's Policies, Standards and Procedures.

This role is based on-site at 1251 Avenues of the Americas, with a hybrid work schedule.

The successful applicant will be skilled cloud engineer who is passionate about cloud operations and striving for improvement across technology. More than a set of skills, we are looking for someone who is curious, collaborative, great at communicating, and is always willing to learn.

• 5+ years' experience in technical operations positions, with prior technical experience working with Azure cloud and SQL technologies, in a complex technical environment.
• 2+ years' experience in Terraform and code driven pipelines using Azure DevOps.
• Previous experience as a Database Administrator with experience managing database availability and performance, configuration, optimization, backup, patching, and housekeeping such as tuning and indexing.
• In-depth understanding and working knowledge of ITIL and other relevant ITSM frameworks.
• Ability to prioritize and comfortable in fluid, fast-growing technology function or company.
• Experience in process improvement through automation (Terraform, PowerShell or/ and Power Automate).
• Ability to develop and maintain high quality interpersonal relationships with stakeholders at all levels, both within and outside the Fund.

Pay transparency notice

The salary range for this position is $115,000 to $145,000 (this is based on full-time hours, located in New York City). The base pay offered may vary depending on job related knowledge, skills, and experience and refers to the amount AustralianSuper is willing to pay at the time of posting.
