Cloud Software Engineer

This is a key role in the development of a platform-based Nuance solution that enables a large network of workflow-integrated AI applications while leveraging Nuance's proven diagnostic imaging solutions to provide critical information for personalized care decisions that increase efficiencies and lower healthcare costs.
Responsibilities

• Consistently deliver results per commitments, under supervision.
• Learn and follow best practices on cloud engineering (automation, state management, high-availability, disaster recovery) using the Azure platform.
• Desire to grow knowledge and become proficient in these areas.
• Cloud Architecture and design pattens for Azure
• Designing and developing cloud solutions for resiliency and scalability
• Cloud automation and DevOps methodology
• Work with engineering leads, architects and senior team members to develop best practices, reusable design patterns and code.
• Work in a distributed environment with teams around the world, and work across functions with peers to ensure collaboration on shared goals.
• Perform tasks related to securing services and infrastructure and incorporating a security centered mindset towards products, tools, and processes.
• Stay educated on existing, emerging technologies. Support team efforts in adopting relevant new technologies, tools, methods and processes

Qualifications
Minimum years of work experience

• 4+ years of total professional experience in information technology, software engineering, data, analytics or AI related roles.
• 2+ years of data, analytics or AI solution design or implementation experience.

Education
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related technical field experience
Required skills

• Strong focus on quality right from the design phase, incorporating best practices and engineering for testability.
• Good programming skills using one of the following languages C#, Java, Go, Python.
• Experience in design and development in the cloud, including the use of SDKs, containerization, API development, debugging and monitoring.
• Software life cycle experience, including deployment to production on cloud.
• Experience creating automated tests using test automation frameworks.
• Working with an agile team on continuous improvement and integration, delivery and deployment to production.
• Must be able to work in a distributed environment and balance competing priorities.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, required for communication with globally distributed Nuance teams.
• Passion for software engineering, design, and performance.
• Good technical, analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred skills

• Experience with developing SaaS based solutions.
• Ability to program in Azure, using Azure SDK, Azure CLI, Azure PowerShell, and similar tools.
• Knowledge on DevOps concepts and tools.
• Experience delivering highly available and highly scalable solutions.
• Experience with software load balancers, message queues, and other task distribution technologies.
• Experience with compute and containerization in the cloud (Azure, AWS, GCP or equivalent).
• Understanding of different techniques and options for High Availability and Disaster Recovery.
