Job Purpose
The CNC Press Brake Operator is responsible for the operation of the company’s CNC Press Brake machine to form metal parts for fabrication.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
• Operation (including calibration and occasional reprogramming) of Trumpf, Bystronic, and/or 130 Ton Giga Bend CNC brake presses.
• Use information such as part dimensions, bend angle, inside radius, and acceptable tolerances from technical drawings and specifications or sample parts to confirm quality of finished work.
• Work to close tolerances such as a typical +/- 1/16” by utilizing required gauges and inspection knowledge.
• Setting up and breaking down different punch and die setups.
• Reviews production orders/jobs and interprets accompanying prints and drawings to determine job requirements
• Selects and/or verifies materials, processes and equipment required to perform assigned jobs.
• Prepares and cleans material, as necessary, for desired operation.
• Monitors machine performance and output during production to ensure proper results, notifies supervisor of any potential issues with machine performance
• Cleans and maintains work area (daily), fabricating equipment and other tools of the trade.
• Works in a safe manner at all times.
• Ensures that all work is completed in accordance with company’s Quality standards. May be required to Performs quality checks on material produced during shift.
• Make preparations as necessary for following shift.
• Additional duties as assigned by Manager(s)
Qualifications
Qualifications include:
• High school diploma or GED
• Good communication skills
• Ability to work with people of varying personalities
• Ability to work well under pressure to analyze and solve problems.
• 3-5 years of CNC brake operation, calibration, and minor programming experience preferred.
• Ability to read and comprehend machine and component drawings/blueprints.
• Familiarity with custom architectural metalwork.
• No advanced programming required initially, but must possess ability to comprehend and learn machine programming and tool selection under training of lead operator.
• Must be meticulous, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and have the ability to work well with limited supervision.
• Ability to work overtime and on weekends as needed for the position.
• Possess a willingness to help fellow operators.
• Understand the differences in air bending, bottom bending, and coining
• Prior experience using both a mechanical and hydraulic press brake preferred
Working conditions
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.
Physical requirements
The employee is frequently required to stand/walk; squat/kneel; twist/turn; reach overheard and outward, and stoop, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Employee must be able to wear a fit-tested respirator if required.
Direct reports
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
Position type/ expected hours of work
This is a full-time position. Work schedule is Monday through Friday with overtime as required.
Travel
No travel is expected for this position.
