About the Role:Reporting to the VP of Extrusion Operations – NJ Division, this role is responsible for the efficient and safe operation of extrusion machinery. Key duties include performing job changeovers, making precise adjustments, and troubleshooting to ensure production meets strict quality and tolerance standards. The operator is expected to maintain high productivity while minimizing material waste and operational costs, consistently producing parts that meet or exceed quality expectations. Your Responsibilities: • Operate a variety of machine tools to perform precision and progressive machining tasks. • Work with a range of tools, including hand tools, cutting tools, measuring instruments, and machine tools. • Read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, specifications, and sample parts to determine required dimensions, tolerances, and the sequence of operations. • Use mathematical skills and precision instruments to calculate dimensions and tolerances. • Measure, inspect, and test completed parts to identify defects and ensure adherence to specifications. • Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and raw materials onto machines. • Position and secure workpieces in fixtures according to setup instructions. • Monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions and make necessary adjustments to controls. • Maintain a safe work environment and comply with all safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). • Follow all safety policies and procedures without exception. • Support team operations by assisting in other areas as needed and performing additional duties as assigned. What You Will Bring: • Completion of a Machine Tool Technology degree or Technical School Certificate in Machining is preferred; equivalent hands-on machining experience will also be considered. • Previous experience in a fabrication or manufacturing environment is required. • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job safely and efficiently. • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to set up and operate CNC machines. • Ability to read and interpret CNC programs, blueprints, operational layouts, and engineering diagrams. • Basic knowledge of machining fundamentals, shop math, and standard measuring procedures. • Proficient in using precision measuring tools, including calipers, micrometers, and gauges. • Demonstrated problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with attention to detail. • Hands-on experience with Mazak and Haas CNC machines is strongly preferred. • Knowledge of 4-axis and 5-axis CNC equipment operations. • Experience with CAM software, such as Mastercam, is a plus. This is a hands-on role that requires regular work on the plant floor, operating and interacting directly with industrial CNC and fabrication machinery and equipment. Work Environment:Responsibilities are carried out in both indoor settings and in the plant, an unregulated environment that experiences extreme temperatures and high levels of noise, including but not limited to other uncontrollable factors.
