CNC Mill Operator

Overview Since 1915, the Derbyshire Machine & Tool Company has been a major supplier for the Department of Defense and the U.S. Navy, producing valves and related nuclear propulsion system components from exotic hard metals to critical specifications. To meet this increase in production, there are currently openings for skilled milling machinists with backgrounds in fanuc or mazak controls, cnc mill programming, exotic hard metals machining, first piece production and adherence to very tight tolerances. Work schedules average 45 to 48 hours Monday through Friday on the dayshift with Saturday work available as well. Responsibilities • Set up, operate, and maintain CNC lathes and/or CNC mill turns • Modify programs to improve productivity • Inspect parts to ensure conformance to print Requirements • Journeyman-level experience a plus • Experience modifying programs (Okuma preferred) • GD&T knowledge a plus • Familiarity with measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers • Experience machining nickel alloys a plus • Experience machining castings a plus • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or apprenticeship in machining preferred. • Attention to detail and ability to work independently or in a team.
