Who you are
We are looking for a Communications Specialist to join our Richmond, VA office. This role is integral to the strategic growth of the Real Estate Management Services (REMS) team, and will provide service excellence to our clients, tenants, staff, and partners by contributing to key marketing and communications initiatives. The successful candidate will be a part of the REMS marketing and communications team to enhance the success of our marketing and communications strategies as we pursue our growth objectives.
What you bring
- 2+ years of related experience in a business or corporate communications environment, preferably in commercial real estate.
- Degree and/or certificate in marketing, communications, or another related field.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
- Basic knowledge of Adobe's Creative Suite of products including InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator an asset.
- Proven experience developing strategic narratives to support business goals.
- Exceptional business writing, proofing, and editing skills.

- Must possess strong ability to work independently and a sense of initiative.
- Proven ability to lead projects involving senior management.
- Possess strong organizational, time management and project management skills within both an independent and team environment.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Exhibit a high level of professionalism and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Strong relationship-building ability, proactive, results-oriented, and resourceful.
- Personal sense of responsibility to meet deadlines without compromising accuracy, and to provide excellent quality of work.
What success looks like
- You will work closely with senior leadership to strategize, coordinate, prepare and write engaging content for internal and external publications and channels.
- You will draft communication, pitches, proposals, presentations and RFP's from the senior management team and apply communication principles to achieve strategic goals.
- You will create communications such as newsletters, email marketing, social media content and digital campaigns. You will be involved in community management.
- You will provide quality assurance oversight by editing and proofreading all materials to an exceptional quality standard, as well as meeting brand guidelines.
