Job Description

The Consumer Intelligence Analyst is responsible for helping execute consumer research for current clients and prospects, synthesizing research results, and making recommendations that ultimately impact strategic business decisions. In this role you will partner with key members of the Barkley Strategy and Intelligence teams and support primary and secondary consumer research efforts, data analysis, data mining, data visualization, brand performance tracking and measurement, and other quantitative research initiatives that deliver results against the client’s specific business and marketing related goals and objectives.This role is an excellent opportunity for an individual with the right attitude and abilities to strengthen his or her research skill set by working collaboratively with more senior research analysts. To be successful, you need to be passionate and excited about consumer research and data and curious about new techniques and methodologies for generating insights. Agency work is fast-paced and collaborative, so you’ll also need to be a fast learner, pay attention to detail, manage your time effectively, and communicate effectively with a wide range of colleagues, collaborators, and clients. Responsibilities
  • Work with clients and brand strategists to design and execute research that answers critical business questions and helps them grow the business.
  • Prepare summaries and reports of findings from consumer analyses and share with internal teams and clients.
  • Highlight critical insights from research and help translate findings into strategy and concrete actions.
  • Create, program, and launch surveys designed to gather consumer information that drives client strategy. Examples include consumer segmentation studies, new brand or product concept screens, and brand health trackers.
  • Clean, reorganize, and recode data to prepare it for analysis.
  • Analyze data using a variety of univariate and multivariate statistical techniques to uncover insights that help inform strategic decision-making.
  • Prepare crosstabs reports that help summarize survey data.
  • Synthesize and summarize data from secondary sources to inform survey content or to make decisions in lieu of primary research (e.g., Census data, Mintel, Gartner/Iconoculture, Euromonitor, etc.)
  • Prepare summaries and reports of findings from consumer analyses and share with internal teams and clients.
  • Serve as a key partner research resource for internal and client-side brand leaders and marketing teams.
Qualifications
  • BS/BA in Marketing, Market Research, Data Analytics, Statistics, Psychology, Sociology or related degree. Graduate degree preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in a marketing, consumer insights/research, or professional consulting role, prefer experience in the consumer packaged goods, restaurant, retail, travel, finance, or healthcare industry.
  • Ability to navigate, utilize and analyze raw data files using analysis software (SPSS or R)
  • Ability to deliver actionable business recommendations, influence decisions, and drive results.
  • Ability to work with third-party suppliers ensuring they are aligned to our deliverables and are driving impactful outcomes.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, especially the ability to explain difficult concepts and opportunities in simple, applicable business terms.
  • Experience with data mining, segmentation, or predictive modeling using large, research or marketing databases. 
  • Ability to use software to develop crosstabs from raw data files (e.g., Q, MarketSight, Wincross, etc.)
  • Experience with data visualization and information design to communicate results for impact.
  • Experience with survey design and programming (e.g., Alchemer/SurveyGizmo, Decipher/Forsta, Sawtooth, Qualtrics, SurveyMonkey, etc.)
  • Strong analytic thought process and ability to interpret findings.
  • Ability to use all MS office software with proficiency and advanced skills in Excel.
