Data Discovery & Classification Engineer

Key Responsibilities: 

• Develop and implement data repository discovery strategies. 

• Collaborate with data architects, analysts, and other stakeholders to identify sensitive data stores, integration workflows, and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes. 

• Partner with AI/ML cybersecurity team to identify and classify large datasets. 

• Utilize tools and technologies to identify and classify sensitive data across various data sources. 

• Collaborate with data governance, security, and IT teams to ensure proper data handling and protection. 

• Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure data classification accuracy. 

• Create and maintain documentation for data discovery and classification processes. 

• Provide training and support to employees on data classification best practices. 

• Monitor and respond to data classification incidents and issues. 

• Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in data discovery and classification. 

Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. 

• Proven experience as a Data Discovery & Classification Engineer or in a similar role. 

• Strong knowledge of data discovery and classification tools and technologies (e.g., Varonis, Microsoft Information Protection, Symantec). 

• Familiarity with data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA). 

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. 

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills. 

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 

• Relevant certifications (e.g., CIPP, CIPM) are a plus.
