Full-Stack Software Engineer

As a Software Engineer at Burq, you will be joining a team of talented engineers working together to transform the way businesses offer on-demand & same-day delivery. You will be part of an emerging team that is building a product to power millions of businesses with their delivery needs.

Who are we looking for:

• You want to get involved in the early days of building a highly-scalable platform with a strong market presence.
• You have experience with JavaScript and JS frameworks, such as React.js, Angular.js, and/or Node.js.
• You are comfortable working with frameworks including, SQL, NoSQL, REST APIs, or AWS.
• You have experience building micro services and crafting APIs. Experience with Git / Github.
• You are comfortable working on an Agile team.
• Nice to have: Knowledge in Python, Java or GO.

What you will do:

• Responsible for the design, implementation, and delivery of complex projects
• Serve as a technical resource on best practices for API development with a primary focus on REST-style APIs
• Use data and user feedback to identify, design, and improve Burq’s user experience to ensure clients are able to quickly and delightfully perform their mission critical delivery needs
• Uphold our high engineering standards and improve our practices in engineering, security, and design

You may be fit for this role if you:

• Have an entrepreneurial mindset
• Have four or more years of experience in full time software development or similar role
• Have a strong technical background, with two or more years of experience building impactful end to end products
• Enjoy being a generalist working on the frontend, backend, and anything it takes to solve problems and delight users
• Can put yourself in the shoes of your users and be a steward of crafting great experiences

DevOps Engineer

As a DevOps engineer at Burq, you will be working together with engineers to ensure the critical success of the scaling and growth of the software platform and transform the way businesses offer on-demand & same-day delivery. You will be part of an emerging team that is building a product to power millions of businesses with their delivery needs.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)

• Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer with expertise in operating Docker-based containers on AWS using terraform .
• Solid understanding of continuous integration, continuous delivery, microservices architecture, and infrastructure as code.
• Proficient in application monitoring using tools such as DataDog, Grafana, and Sentry. You will be responsible for managing both infrastructure and platform-level alerts to ensure service uptime.
• Familiar with Node JS ecosystem and capable of quickly ramping up to triage platform issues such as memory leaks, container stalls, and random crushes via profiling and other tools/techniques. 
• Proficient in monitoring SQL databases (we use MySQL), triaging performance issues, and handling administrative tasks such as version upgrades and sharding. You feel comfortable operating in the capacity of DBA to handle common database tasks.  
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a focus on improved teamwork.

• Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation.
• Familiarity with agile development methodologies.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent industry experience related field.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with development and operations teams to enhance and streamline the delivery pipeline, focusing on build, test, release, plan, and monitor phases.
• Manage and optimize cloud infrastructure on AWS, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security.
• Implement and maintain containerization using Docker for efficient deployment and scaling of microservices.
• Utilize DataDog, Sentry, and other relevant tools for monitoring, logging, and continuous integration/delivery.
• Develop and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) to enhance automation and repeatability.
• Implement and enhance security measures throughout the entire development and deployment process.
• Diagnose and resolve issues in collaboration with software development teams and clients.
• Drive continuous improvement in the areas of collaboration, communication, and overall efficiency.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to align DevOps practices with the overall business objectives.
