Job Summary:
Director, Creative Production is responsible for overseeing all projects at a managerial level, including oversight of direct reports, external vendors and partners, interdepartmental communications, department budgets and workflow timelines. The Director, Creative Production will work in tandem with the Senior Creative Director to ensure all creative deliverables are produced as concepted within set timelines and budgets.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead the project management and execution of all assigned Creative Production projects
- Communicate the SFX vision and identify opportunities to reduce expenses, grow revenue, and create efficiencies
- Strategic sourcing (RFPs/bidding, vendor relations)
- Resource planning (scope of fabricators, labor, project managers)
- Value engineering while retaining exceptional product and guest experience o Budget allocation of concepts within a project to achieve the overall project goals
- Oversee all organizational documents including workback schedules, calendars, and project deliverable tracking
- Lead project communications – interdepartmentally and externally
- Ability to effectively oversee multiple projects, budgets, and vendors simultaneously
- Ensure all financial project goals are being met in collaboration with Finance and Leadership teams
- Communicate and collaborate with other divisional leaders to ensure and maintain successful projects and partnerships
- Manage and help foster growth and learning opportunities with team members
- Communicate creative concepts, builds and planning to external stakeholders such as studio partners and collaborators effectively and tactfully.
- Lead RFP process and solicit bids from vendors; develop strong relationships with suppliers
- Negotiate fees, payment schedules, and other deal terms and conditions; review vendor contracts for accuracy
- Support the leadership of the team on site to successfully install and strike all elements of the various activations
- Ensure projects are adequately resourced; work with HR on the recruiting, hiring, and training process for the Creative Production team
- Oversee the creation of goals and strategy throughout project
- Ensure timely completion through all phases
- Oversee and help develop agendas for status calls; recap the calls after completion
- Assist in oversight of creation of a storage plan for creative assets as needed
- Report project statuses weekly
- Field questions and offer advice to team members to assist with creative problem solving
- Be knowledgeable and update the team on best practices, new suppliers, services, and venues
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- 5 - 7 years of experience managing budgets, timelines and vendors of large-scale, live event projects including fabrication, lighting design, audio design, video content production and graphic designers
- Experience managing at least 5 direct reports simultaneously
- Experience in experiential events, creative agency, festivals, or theater strongly preferred
- Previous experience negotiating with a variety of specialized vendors
- Excellent communication and superb presentation skills, written and verbal
- Collaborative and able to give and take critique and compliments productively
- Excellent relationship building skills; personable, trustworthy, empathetic, flexible
- Conflict resolution skills
- Passion for creating world-class experiences around TV and film intellectual property
- Proven ability to deliver projects within (or under) budget
- College degree preferred in project management, creative arts, or entertainment
- Ability to develop and manage timelines and understand project dependencies and impacts, especially within a larger team including key internal stakeholders and external studio partners
- Strong written and verbal skills and detail oriented
- Knowledge of Google Apps, Adobe Suite, and Microsoft Office
- Excellent teamwork and problem-solving skills
