Director of Commodities

ArrowStream is an innovative SaaS business and member of Buyers Edge Platform that's changing the way foodservice businesses optimize their supply chain!

This role will be remotely based. We are unable to provide sponsorship for work authorization for this role.

As Director of Commodities, you will play a critical role in an organization’s supply chain process, overseeing the collection, analysis, forecasting, and communication of a set of commodities related to restaurants and food production. You are able to effectively navigate market risks to help partners reach their commodity goals.

Your impact: 

• Source data and fundamentals news from USDA, CME, and other core sources 
• Study market trends and identify risks when sourcing and procuring commodities
• Understand market trends and understand background mathematics to forecast price changes
• Write commentary to relate market changes and economic conditions to supply chain activity
• Advise customers on calls or presentations of market changes  
• Work with brand leaders on internal strategies, understanding their Cost of Goods (COGS), forward contracting, and overall profitability
• Effectively evaluate information/data to make decisions. anticipates obstacles and develop plans to resolve and create actionable strategies and operational plans.
• Develop and cultivate mutually beneficial relationships and strategic engagements with key partners. 

What you bring: 

• Bachelor’s Degree in supply chain management, economics, or a similar field
• 4+ years' experience in supply chain or commodity management
• Ability to do periodic travel, 3 to 4x/year
• Valid driver's license and ability to rent a car
• Specialty with proteins is a plus
• Broad understanding of commodity markets related to restaurants and food production (protein, dairy, softs, energy, disposables, produce, ect…) 
• Solid knowledge of financial markets that influence commodity prices 
• Specific knowledge of proteins such as beef, chicken, pork, and seafood
• Critical thinking and problem solver
• Demonstrate sound work ethic
• Ability to communicate effectively through writing
• Comfort speaking to customers about their supply chain 
• Dedication to continuous improvement
• Advanced analytical skills
• Ability to work on a team
• Strong leadership skills and the ability to work well with personnel from various departments
