Director of FP&A

We are looking for an experienced finance leader to join our growing team and  drive all aspects of planning and performance management. You will be responsible for all areas of FP&A, which includes developing financial and business plans, partnering with business leaders across the company and driving analyses for business and strategic issues. By definition, you will be detail and data driven. This role will report to and work closely with our VP of Finance.

As the Director of FP&A, you’ll…

  • Lead, plan, and direct the development and analysis of budgets, forecasts, and strategic plans, working across all functional areas of the business, and institute monthly reporting / tracking and reviews
  • Build and own the rolling forecast and long-range planning process
  • Must be able to build out and manage integrated three-statement financial models
  • Evaluate and implement financial tools and applications to streamline planning, budgeting, and reporting
  • Partner closely with Controller and accounting in preparation and reporting of weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual company financial performance reporting and analysis
  • Drive the process for rationalizing spend, including headcount and non-headcount spend within the framework of short-term and long-term operating plans
  • Develop framework for headcount planning and reporting for Finance, HR and Recruiting
  • Create presentations and analysis to support investor conversations and Board Meetings
  • Advance the insight and understanding of Lob’s KPIs and economics to drive further alignment and accountability across the company
  • Hire, lead, and grow the right team to support Lob’s growth.
  • Complete ad hoc strategic, financial and operational analyses including new products, business models, strategic partnerships, etc

What will you bring to this role…

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or economics. 
  • 10+ years of relevant FP&A experience, preferably in a high-growth startup environment
  • Experience in enterprise SaaS and/or usage business models preferred
  • Consistent track record of finance business partnering and leadership
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to influence and build credibility with senior management
  • Experience evaluating and implementing financial systems to support planning and forecasting
  • Keen attention to detail but are also able to see the big picture
  • Advanced Excel, google sheets, and PowerPoint skills

Compensation information

(Tier 1) = San Francisco Bay Area

Base: $200,000.00 - $245,000.00


(Tier 2) = LA/Orange County/NYC Metro Area 

Base: $190,000.00 - $232,750.00


(Tier 3) = San Diego

Base: $180,000.00 - $222,500.00


(Tier 4) = Colorado 

Base: $170,000.00 - $208,250.00


(Tier 5) = Other geographic areas 120+ miles from one of the above mentioned geo’s 

Base: $160,000.00 - $196,000.00

Salary is one part of total compensation, which also includes equity, perks and competitive benefits.
