Opportunity Summary Bronx Arts seeks anElementary Classroom Teacherresponsible for promoting a positive school culture while working with parents, students, and community members to ensure that the high expectations we have for our students are maintained in their classroom. Teachers must use their knowledge of the development of young children, in ways which young children learn to support the social, emotional and cognitive development of our scholars. Responsibilities • Develop and teach engaging lessons that tightly aligned to Bronx Arts' curriculum and NYS standards & benchmarks. • Provide individual or small group instruction for students who require additional academic support. • Differentiate small group instruction for students with special needs. • Utilize formal and informal assessment data to drive instruction and ensure student mastery of standards. • Build a warm and inclusive classroom environment, implementing the practices of Responsive Classroom. • Create and maintain strong relationships with students and families. • Actively participate in grade-level meetings, collaborative planning, and professional development, including an annual summer institute • Participate in Grade Team meetings to gather information about student progress and assist in developing program recommendations. • Accept ultimate responsibility for the academic progress of his or her students, and work to actively overcome setback.Requirements: • A graduate of a Bachelor’s degree program (required) from an accredited college or university. Master's Degree preferred. • Minimum three years teaching experience in their discipline. • NYS teaching certification or pending in their discipline and/or meets NYS certification eligibility requirements. • The ability to create a classroom environment where students feel safe, supported, and challenged • Passion and commitment to teaching scholars in underserved areas and to closing the achievement gap • Relentless drive to set and achieve ambitious goals • Strong collaboration and teamwork skills • Growth mindset and ability to use feedback to improve practice • Experience teaching in underserved areas a plus Compensation Compensation packages are competitive and commensurate with experience.
