Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Mainframe and Distributed software development engineer in Durham, NC.

This person will be assigned to an existing, world-class development organization responsible for the development, packaging and delivery of the Test4z product within Broadcom's Mainframe software portfolio. This product enables unit testing and code coverage of COBOL applications and provides capability to record program execution. The selected candidate will spend their time enhancing the feature set of this product as well as interacting directly with global customers to validate requirements and drive the execution of hands-on PoCs (proof of concept).

It is expected you are an avid practitioner of agile methodology and can be a leader in your field of software development for the mainframe and distributed stack.

The ideal candidate will be deeply knowledgeable about the mainframe and be able to author skillfully COBOL and/or C. Additionally, knowledge of the most recent pipeline tooling (Jenkins, Github, etc) are a must.

Your ability to adapt to changing priorities is an important strength. The individual and team goal will be to maintain high-quality software aligned with user needs and business objectives.

***Note - This is an in-office position (5 days/week) located in Durham, NC

Being able to work on mission-critical, high-importance software is a must.

Responsibilities

• Create and execute the features and delivery content for the Test4z product
• Create new software APIs in COBOL and/or C
• Ability to understand customer needs to design and develop appropriate 'outside-in' validation points
• Actively support and contribute to end-of-iteration demos
• Mentor, train, develop, and serve as a knowledge resource for less experienced Software Engineers

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Computer Engineering

• In-depth expertise with COBOL, C and at least one script language JavaScript/TypeScript, Python

• 8+ years of experience as a software engineer

• Experience in Agile Development

• Familiarity with the VSCode development environment

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines setup (Jenkins is a plus), build configuration, with unit testing and test automation

Recommended/Useful Skills:

• Knowledge and experience with the Mainframe environment (ISPF, CICS, Db2, IMS, IDMS)

• Knowledge of Source Code Control Systems such as Endevor and Github

• Familiarity with any formal project tracking toolset

Compensation and Benefits

The annual base salary range for this position is $91,200 - $152,000

This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in accordance with relevant plan documents, and equity in accordance with equity plan documents and equity award agreements.
