Facilities Security Specialist

JOB Under supervision, to identify opportunities for threat mitigation and to develop, analyze, and prepare recommendations; to identify, develop, and review physical fortifications, surveillance, and training; to maintain general security at County of Santa Clara facilities.Candidates who demonstrate they meet the Employment Standards will be invited to participate in the oral examination tentatively scheduled to be held in late September/early October 2025, however, is subject to change based on the number of qualified applications received. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES The following are the duties performed by employees in this classification. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Each individual in the classification does not necessarily perform all duties listed.Conducts exterior and interior facility security assessments;Responds to County facility security incidents and coordinates with law enforcement; makes safety recommendations or takes immediate steps to support the safety of the affected staff;Recommends security fortifications and procedures for all County owned and leased facilities;Assists with Facilities Security Division administrative duties;Recommends measures to reduce incidents of workplace violence and crime;Tracks all security and safety incidents and prepares reports, as requested;Assists with planning and coordinating security operations for specific events;Reviews reports on security breaches to identify root causes and to develop proposals for improvements;Verifies the security of third-party vendors and collaborates with them to meet security requirements;May act as a resource person and consultant for department, division, and unit managers in matters of facility safety and security;Develops schedules, and conducts safety and security trainings for county staff, including but not limited to active shooter training; Maintains cooperative relationships with County agency and department management, county-wide safety and security departments, and local law enforcement;Reviews project worksheets to ensure appropriate mitigation measures are taken;Maintains working knowledge of County’s current security equipment;May be assigned as a Disaster Service Worker (DSW), as required*;Performs other related duties, as required.
