Position Overview:The Level 2 Maintenance Technician is a vital contributor to the maintenance operations of our food manufacturing plant. This role requires a blend of advanced technical expertise and practical skills to ensure the reliability and efficiency of our equipment. The Level 2 Technician will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot complex systems, and lead critical maintenance tasks while fostering a safe and productive work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Safety Compliance:
Uphold stringent safety standards by adhering to OSHA regulations and company protocols. Promote a safe and orderly work environment for all team members. Knowledge of LOTO procedures.
• Preventive Maintenance:
Execute and enhance the plant’s preventive maintenance program. Conduct comprehensive inspections and maintenance tasks to prevent breakdowns and extend equipment lifespan, including:
• Performing systematic checks and repairs on complex machinery.
• Identifying issues early and rectifying them before they escalate.
• Troubleshooting and Repair:
Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical issues, leveraging advanced technical skills. Responsibilities include:
• All duties of an L1 technician plus diagnostics and repair of common food manufacturing processing equipment ensuring precise execution to maintain operational efficiency and avoid costly downtime.
• Ability top read blueprints, one line diagrams and parts diagrams.
• Advanced Technical Expertise:
Utilize a deep understanding of machinery and systems to employ specialized tools for diagnosing and remedying faults. This includes a strong electrical and mechanical background.
• Documentation:
Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections using maintenance management software. Document diagnostic processes and outcomes to contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
• Team Collaboration:
Work closely with maintenance team members and other departments to ensure smooth operations. Provide mentorship and support to Level 1 Technicians, assisting in their training and development.
• Standard Exchange Replacements and Adjustments:
Execute standard exchange replacements and make minor adjustments to enhance equipment performance. Understand the implications of adjustments on overall machinery efficiency.
• Continuous Improvement:
Actively seek opportunities to improve maintenance processes and enhance operational efficiency. Contribute ideas for optimizing preventive maintenance strategies.
Qualifications:
• Minimum of 5 years of repair and maintenance experience in light industrial and commercial electrical work.
• Technical education related to mechanical systems is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
· Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures under supervision.
· Interpret basic electrical blueprints, diagrams, and schematics.
· Use electrical test equipment (multimeters, voltage testers, etc.).
· Work with conduit (EMT, PVC, MC cable, etc.).
· Understand and apply NEC (National Electrical Code) fundamentals.
· Perform basic troubleshooting and repairs on residential and light commercial systems.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex issues effectively.
• Strong ability to follow both written and oral instructions.
• Proven ability to work independently and take ownership of maintenance tasks.
• Commitment to safety and adherence to OSHA regulations.
• Must embody and demonstrate company values and culture.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
• Standing and walking 8-12 hours a shift.
• Schedules may require working nights, weekends and holidays.
