Your role and responsibilities

As an IBM Associate Consultant within Federal Consulting you will help IBM clients solve some of their most challenging business problems capitalize on market opportunities and understand leading technologies and the impact they can have on traditional business processes.

In this role you may be responsible for:

  • Learning and adopting consulting skills and business knowledge to effectively integrate packaged technology into the client's business environment.
  • Translating client's business needs into business requirements and participating in the production of solutions to drive business value.
  • Working with clients to refine or design their business strategy while working in an agile collaborative environment.

This role requires candidates to work on-site 5 days a week at the Washington DC office.

These positions are anticipated to begin in Summer 2026.

Candidates must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Federal security clearance while in IBM Consulting-Federal

Required technical and professional expertise
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance from the US federal government.
  • Willingness to travel up to 100%
  • Outcome focused possessing a high level of resilience you demonstrate the flexibility and resolve needed to achieve success a across a broad range of consultative contexts
  • Ability to understand clients’ needs and challenges and apply creative and logical approach to identify solutions. Openness to assist clients in the design business architect process development functional implementation and support of applications.
  • Exceptional quantitative and qualitative analysis skills and ability to derive recommendations informed by data and insights and experience mapping capabilities
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to collaborate and work effectively in a team environment able to build direct working relationships across all levels of the IBM and client team
Preferred technical and professional experience
  • Demonstrates a strong drive to tackle challenges improve results and innovate while understanding diverse perspectives.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively in a high-pressure environment.
  • Proven academic success and motivation with exceptional communication and storytelling abilities for conveying complex information clearly.
