Job Description
Specific responsibilities include:
Period End Close
- Oversee period end close process of Mars Wrigley segment HQ expense ledger, including Helios and HFM reporting submission, and full ownership for the quality of the balance sheet and P&L.
- Coordinate period close activities with MGS-F (shared service), particularly general accounting and intercompany teams.
- Ensure completeness of manual journal entries performed by MGS-F establish recurring journal entries.
- Prepare all periodic Blackline tasks, and certify risk ratings in Blackline.
- Review all required reporting to External Reporting (e.g., Q23, Q28, A11, webforms) quarterly.
- Ensure reasonableness of significant accruals including AVP, MPI/MSOP, tax gross ups, and pensions.
- Initiate creation of new and blocking of old GL accounts and cost centers with the Master Data Governance team.
- Monitor accuracy of cost centers and submit change requests to the MDG team.
- Partner with the ITO team to ensure appropriate classification and presentation of approved non-operating program costs.
Period Management Reporting and Analysis
- Prepare periodic quality review for financial statements, including analysis and commentary of balance sheet, P&L and cash flow statement.
- Identify risk and opportunities and recommend actions to budget owners.
- Lead Co-Pilot for Facilities, P&O, S&F functions, and support other functional Co-Pilots as needed
- Support maintenance of Digital Overheads tool (self-service reporting).
Global Cross Charges
- Own the Global Hub overheads allocation file and cost key allocations and communicate budget expectations to business units
- Ensure accuracy of overheads cross charges including annual true-up process (e.g., correct customer/trading partner/destination), and provide support for ad hoc requests from affiliates.
- Own the centralized Wrigley royalty invoicing process, updating for new units.
- Maintain intercompany cost sharing agreements, and work with legal team to draft new agreements.
- Ensure accuracy and approve all incoming cross charges, including Affiliate Professional Services for Associates in a Global Hub role, Corporate Shared Costs, and MGS and Digital Technologies costs.
- Initiate and approve all other outgoing cross charges, including costs for transformational programs and associates on assignment to other units.
- Collaborate with Mars Corporate and Tax regarding changes to intellectual property ownership and related royalties. Support local units on documentation needed for local tax audits.
Tax and Treasury
- Support corporate tax team with quarterly data collection process, sales & use tax audit, and submit entries on behalf of tax team as needed.
- Deposit incoming checks, and approve outgoing payments as needed (check, ACH, wire transfer).
- Interface with Risk Management for insurance expense and Global Mobility for relocation costs.
Governance and Controls
- Maintain strong internal control environment and implement process improvements.
- Main point of contact for PwC to provide supporting documentation for audit requests.
- Review and certify annual Internal Controls Excellence documentation.
- Support global G&C work, as needed, including quarterly G&C KPI reviews and quarter close reviews
The position is an individual contributor role that works closely with the shared services organization. The role also partners with Finance Hub associates in Control, FP&A and Business Partner Finance, as well as cross functionally, and MGS-Finance. The role works under the daily guidance and supervision of the Segment Controller within the Segment Controller's team.
