Foreign Language Teacher- Latin

Job description Middle Village Preparatory Charter School, has an immediate position opened for a Teacher of the Latin language to instruct Grades 6-8 students The Latin program is a huge part of our programming over the 3 years that students attend MVP. • Proficiency with reading, writing and the grammar of Latin is a must. • At least two years of previous teaching Latin at the secondary level is preferred. • Must be comfortable with students with IEPs and being able to make modifications to lessons. • Must be comfortable with working with the Special Education Teacher and ENL Support Teacher • State Certification in the Latin language is also required but not immediately necessary. • The candidate must show a willingness to collaborate with colleagues in the school as ELA and History play a large role in Latin • The candidate must also be able and willing to adapt and function into a support role for other subjects. This will include helping and supporting the ELA, history and fine arts teachers to collaborate on themes and lessons. • The candidate must interact well with middle school children and must be aware of middle school children’s academic and social needs. • The successful candidate must possess an awareness of the Latin Proficiency Examination or be able to acquire such knowledge upon joining the teaching staff MVP also offers the students to take part in the National Latin Exam that takes place in March.
