There is an anticipated vacancy for the position of GENERAL ATTORNEY in the OFFICE of the GENERAL COUNSEL of BUREAU OF MEDICINE AND SURGERY.

Qualifications
The incumbent will be responsible for administrative employment litigation before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and Merit System Protection Board; federal court litigation involving civilian personnel law matters and providing guidance to civilian personnel law practitioners on unique/complex civilian personnel law litigation and policy-related issues.
To be eligible for selection at the GS-14 level, the candidate must have at least three and one-half years of experience in civilian personnel law with significant litigation experience.
To be eligibile for selection at the GS-15 level the candidate must have five-and-one-half years of relevant legal experience in civilian personnel law and administrative law or health law, with at least three and one-half of those years concentrated in civilian personnel law litigation.
Experience in health law, ethics, standards of conduct, acquisition, fiscal law, and FOIA/Privacy Act issues is desirable.
The successful candidate must possess strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Applicants with a record of making significant contributions to the advancement of the DON OGC or equivalent Office of the General Counsel or Law Firm/Office beyond the day-to-day legal practice are desired.
Education
The successful applicant must have graduated with a J.D. or LL.M. from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association, be an active member in good standing of the bar of the highest court of a State, U.S. Commonwealth, U.S. territory, or the District of Columbia, and be admitted to practice before a state or federal court.
