Team Introduction
Video Cloud Infra team, facing business experience and cost, builds a competitive video transmission network and multimedia processing platform, builds data foundation and analysis capabilities, drives product refined operation, reduces costs and increases efficiency. We are seeking a talented Backend Software Engineer to join our Live CDN team at TikTok. As a Backend Software Development Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining our Live CDN platform, which powers live streaming services for millions of users worldwide. You will also be responsible for designing and implementing the architecture for the platform, with a focus on automating and simplifying configuration functionality to improve reliability, usability, and flexibility.

Responsibilities:

- Architecture design, research and development, optimal global operational strategy of the TikTok Live global CDN network
- Define and optimize the core metrics of the TikTok Live global multi-CDN networks, including user experience, cost, and stability
- Roadmap and innovation on emerging streaming media protocols and formats

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
- Experienced in the global live streaming industry, familiar with global CDN network optimization
- Expert in streaming media protocols DASH/HLS/RTMP/RTP, familiar with streaming media formats CMAF/FLV/TS/fMP4
- Familiar with network algorithms, including ABR, congestion control, and jitter buffer

Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent problem solving, data analysis, communication, and team work skills
- Experience in standard proposal or paper publication is preferred

Job Information

[For Pay Transparency] Compensation Description (annually)

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $187040 - $358000 annually.

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.

Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others. Employees also receive 10 paid holidays per year, 10 paid sick days per year and 17 days of Paid Personal Time (prorated upon hire with increasing accruals by tenure).
