Salary and benefits
RMOs are employed under one of two collective agreements - the STONZ (Specialist Trainees of New Zealand) or RDA (Resident Doctors’ Association) MECA - depending on their membership.

This includes penal rates for nights, weekends, and public holidays, higher duties allowances when stepping into senior roles, and on-call or after-hours payments. Eligible roles may also offer meal and travel allowances, as well as relocation support.
