Ursa Major’s team moves quickly and does a lot with little. The Instrumentation & Control Software Engineer is responsible for the design, selection, build, and maintenance of all LabVIEW data acquisition and control system software at our test site. This includes ownership of the software architecture and the software ecosystem. You will also have to opportunity to design and build the data acquisition systems that your software is deployed on. You will interface and work closely with Test Engineers, Development Engineers, and Test Technicians to troubleshoot, maintain, and improve the capability and reliability of the test stands.


Responsibilities

  • You will own the LabVIEW architecture, development, implementation, and troubleshooting of instrumentation and controls (I&C) software systems for all test fixtures.
  • You will create software that allows quick data analysis to ensure the proper function of I&C systems.
  • You will support the specification and purchase of instrumentation and controls hardware.
  • You will support the automation of environmental testing systems.

Qualifications

  • Extensive LabVIEW experience with an emphasis on Actor Framework.  
  • Passion for designing I&C systems and wanting to be hands-on with the system.
  • Experience with deterministic control systems and software.
  • Demonstrated implementation of software unit testing.
  • Understanding digital and analog signals, signal response characteristics, noise, filtering, processing, shielding, and grounding.

Desired Experience   

  • Certified LabVIEW Associate Developer (CLAD) or Certified LabVIEW Developer (CLD) certification 
  • Experience working with multiple engineering disciplines and technicians 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of industrial communications such as RS485, EtherNet/IP, EtherCAT, Profibus, Modbus.  
  • Experience with rapid design and installation of I&C systems and related software from concept through activation and daily operation.
  • Design of electrical power distribution according to NFPA and NEC requirements.

Colorado law requires us to tell you the base compensation range of this role, which is $90,000 - $140,000, determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
