Ravinia is North America’s longest-running music festival and the most artistically diverse. Over 100 different events by a mix of classical, rock, pop, jazz, R&B, indie, and country performers make up a typical summer season on our two open-air and two indoor stages. Each year, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra is featured in six weeks of concerts, many with Chief Conductor Marin Alsop. During the same summer months, the Ravinia Steans Music Institute provides young professional classical and jazz musicians with career-advancing training and concert settings.

Job Description

Ravinia Information Technology is seeking a part-time IT Program Assistant for our 2024 festival season. The person in this role will provide overflow administrative support for the information technology team and handle a variety of tasks, such as installing software on desktop operating systems and organizing hardware inventory.

Reporting to the Senior System Administrator, you are self-motivated and will assist in handling IT support tickets. The ideal candidate will have some work experience supporting Windows, MacOS and iOS operating systems along with troubleshooting issues related to Google Workspace, video calls, printers and copiers.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Serve as a member of Ravinia IT support staff
• Provide first responses to employees relative to software and hardware issues
• Optimize desktop computers as instructed by system administrators
• Organize and document spare computer hardware inventory
• Document technical issues
• Run or compile reports
• Pick up IT mail and small packages
• Handle audio/visual and printer support for Ravinia staff
• Assist IT team on small projects and tasks as needed

Knowledge and Skills

• Well-organized; able to follow procedures 
• Customer service skills
• Research and problem-solving
• Lift, arrange and connect computers, monitors and peripherals
• Ability to collaborate and work on a small team

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience with Windows and/or Apple computer hardware and software
• Experience using web-based applications
• Prior work experience

Schedule

As the IT Program Assistant, you will work a part-time schedule of 20 to 25 hours per week during the summer concert season (June through August). The preferred schedule is 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

Office Location

This position is on-premise at Ravinia Offices, 418 Sheridan Road, Highland Park, IL.

Compensation: $16.50 per hour
