Job Description
BASIC PURPOSE: The role of the Project Manager is to plan, execute and finalize complex technical projects, primarily related to IT construction and data and voice network technologies, according to deadlines and within budget. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultant in to order to deliver projects according to plan. The Project Manager will work with Business and Technical representatives to define the project's objectives and oversee quality control throughout the project lifecycle.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Direct and manage project development from beginning to end.
- Define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
- Develop full-scale project plans and associated communications documents.
- Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
- Liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis.
- Work with Business and Technical representatives to estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with required resources in the business.
- Provide timely updates and reports to manage on an on-going basis.
- Complete Business Analysis tasks as required to support projects and task.
- Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders.
- Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.
- Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team.
- Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path.
- Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools.
- Track project milestones and deliverables.
- Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations.
- Determine the frequency and content of status reports from the project team, analyze results, and troubleshoot problem areas.
- Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.
- Define project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project life cycle.
- Conduct project post mortems and create a recommendations report in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
- Develop best practices and tools for project execution and management.
- Other duties assigned as needed.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Education:
- REQUIRED: Bachelor's Degree in computer science, management information systems, engineering, math, business is Required
- Experience:
- REQUIRED: 5-7 years of experience as a PM / IT Infrastructure Manager
- PREFERRED: Knowledge of IT Infrastructure practices and disciplines, particularly construction & facilities maintenance and data networks
- PREFERRED: Experience working within an Enterprise IT organization
SKILLS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Hard skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office, familiarity with project management software, such as Microsoft Project, experience in developing cases, and adept at conducting research into project related issues and products
- Soft Skills: Demonstrated leadership and personnel management skills, ability to perform general mathematical calculations for the purpose of creating needs assessments and budgets, strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to present in a user-friendly language, self-motivated and directed, keen attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills, team player, and strong customer service orientation.
- Typical Physical Demands:
- Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping.
- Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
- Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
- Occasional evening/weekend work to meet deadlines.
